Mountainbiking Ross Creek (29.08.12)

On the 29.08.12 we went to Ross Creek forest to go mountain  biking. Nick, the instructor, helped us to get ready with the bikes. After we checked the bikes, we started.... We drove up the hill and down again. During our ride we had to pass dangerous corners, a small river and muddy grounds. There were also other barriers. It was very exhausting, but it was a lot of fun! The weather was good and sometimes the sun came out. In the forest was also a ramp. The ramp was very small and looked dangerous, but after we gave it a try it was not as bad as it looked. it was actually quiet enjoyable.
We had a good time!

Port Chalmers Climbing (22.08.12)

On this wednesday we German girls went climbing at Port Chalmers. Mrs Maine drove with us to the port. There a man gave us all the gear to climb on the rocks and he showed us how to feel confident on the rocks. He gave us the special climbing shoes, which really did hurt. After the introduction we were able to start climbing. There were three courses. One easy one and from there it got harder and higher.
It was really fun and we drove exhausted back to school.

Orokonui (01.08.12)

Our trip to Orokonui

Today we drove with the Van to Orokonui. This is an enclosed area without any mammals in it, so that there is still a piece of land which is as it was before the arrival of humans. A guide called Sofie showed us around and we wandered through wonderful forests and saw lots of little ponds. Due to quite bad weather we couldn't see very many birds, but we were still able to watch lots of little birds drinking. Sofie told us lots of interesting facts about New Zealand's nature and the threats of it. After one hour we came back to the starting point and drove back to St. Hildas.
